Red button app for Emmerdale

Release date: March 22, 2006

Emmerdale fans have a new and easy way of catching up with missed episodes of their favourite soap opera.

Pressing the red button on the remote controller enables viewers to go to a dedicated interactive ‘Catch up’ area where they can find out what happened in the last few episodes – or, if they just can’t wait for the next instalment, the ‘Preview’ area tells them what to expect in the next episode of their favourite soap.

News and gossip about the show and the cast is also available on the service – and best of all the service is available at all times, not just during the show. Viewers can access the service via the main ITV interactive menu at any time – or, be taken directly to Emmerdale interactive by pressing the red button during the show.

The Emmerdale interactive service is sponsored by the air freshener manufacturer, Air Wick. The sponsors’ logo is featured as a promotional banner below the main video area of the service – creating strong, but non-intrusive promotional value for Air Wick.

Managing Director of Pushbutton, Paula Byrne, said “Emmerdale interactive is a good example of a straight forward, uncomplicated interactive service that offers strong value to the viewer – and a great promotional opportunity for a sponsor. Having built Coronation Street interactive previously, and now Emmerdale, these two high profile projects represent major wins for Pushbutton – and we are very proud to be associated with two of the UK’s most popular television programmes.”
